About Kansas City Homeschool Connection (KCHC)
Kansas City Homeschool Connection (KCHC), formerly, Lees Summit Home Educators (LSHE), is a faith-based not for profit (501c3) support group for families who choose to home educate their K through 12th grade students. Our group consists of like-minded families who desire to have a strong homeschool community in the Greater KC metro area by serving and spending time together.
In the mid 1990’s, a group of homeschool families began to meet regularly in living rooms in the Eastern Jackson County area. Over time, that group grew to become known as Lee’s Summit Home Educators (LSHE), assisting hundreds of families in their homeschooling journey throughout the years. Members volunteered to organize field trips, hold meetings, educational & social activities, write newsletters...serving and encouraging each other. Around 2010, LSHE was formerly organized and the bylaws written because our membership had grown to close to 300 families at that time.
In 2023, after over 30+ years serving the homeschool community in the KC Metro area, the members and board of directors of LSHE recognized the need for an expansion of our services to better serve our community. Kansas City Homeschool Connection was born! Holding fast to our roots as a homeschool support organization, we hope to continue to be a place for families to desire to come together for field trips, play dates, educational & social activities, and support.
Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, KCHC also expanded our opportunities, organizing high school social events, dances, prom, and a graduation ceremony for our seniors where parents will issue the diplomas on stage, as we join together for a worshipful ceremony to thank God for His goodness and faithfulness to our families in our homeschool journey.
The Board of Directors of KCHC and its members are looking forward to growing in community and influence in the Greater KC area. We hope you join us as we walk together on our homeschooling journeys!
